You could say the 21st Century has been invaded with tonnes of methods on communications. Technology has made reaching individuals effortless and due to this I have resort into being lazy. Don't get me wrong, I love how I can reach whoever I want within a touch of a finger but at the same time I feel as though my skills of actually communicating in real life are deteriorating. Technology has advanced in questionable ways and sometimes I feel as though it's almost too clever for the safety of oneself. From time to time, I catch myself having to turn off my locations setting as I'm not too keen on being tracked for whichever reasons (Apple, 2017). If we take a look around, everyone is glued to at least their phones. Most individuals aren't even aware of what is really surrounding them. In my opinion, it is quite amusing when a group of friends sit next to each other but yet their eyes are glued to their devices while not engaging in any sort of conversations. It's almost as if it's merely for the presence of someone else instead of actually hanging out. We have became so dependent on these devices and are so consumed by social media that occasionally I perceive it as though we're actually not really experiencing these moments but just happen to be there as we're too busy taking pictures to update our feed. I'll admit, I am also guilty of this but I'm trying to repair this terrible habit of mine. There are various pros in regards with technology but the cons lists isn't lacking itself either. Technology has produced a cyber bullying platform as comments can be constructed anonymously (ReachOut Australia, 2017). As a result of these harsh and hurtful comments these usually inflict emotional instability on the individual whose being attacked. The Internet may be a dangerous online community as individuals behind screens can alter everything about themselves and as of such reflect a positive persona where as in reality they possess ill intentions. While the Internet may be a great social platform, remember to always be safe! Oh! And remember to take a moment to really enjoy your surroundings for once, who knows, you might be missing out on a once in a life time moment while you're eyes are too busy being glued to your screen!
