PowerPoint can be referred to one of the original tools used to conduct presentations (The Editors Of Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2017). We often utilise this tool as it is effective and efficient. I can admit that one of the main reasons I still come back to designing presentations with this tool is that it is my safety net (Tanti, 2017). I assume that partially the reason why individuals don't venture out to explore other presentational tools is that PowerPoint does not require Internet connection therefore, is easily accessible. Individuals may also be reluctant as the stress that inevitably follows with attempting to figure out to concept has suddenly become a time consuming chore (Peterson, 2017). Don't get me wrong, I'm not implying attempting to learn new concepts are filled with negativity. The pros side in comparison are unlimited. From a personal perspective I also find it uncomfortable to explore new concepts as I'm not known to be the best with technology and till today still favour the old-school pen to paper thing. My comfort zone slightly restricts the exploration side of me as the fear of failing something is always the biggest pill I have difficulty swallowing but I'm definitely working on that one. I have to terms that being old-school with technology in modern society will only be the disadvantage of oneself therefore, I need to embark on the journey of exploring new technological establishments. All individuals want to be the best of version of themselves in all aspects so being up to date as an educator only enhances your skills. Also, i'm sure nobody wants to be associated with boring of their students on a daily basis. Understanding new technological concepts will be one of the advantages of being an educator as you can be relatable to your students. In order to captivate and keep students engaged there needs to be updated tools utilise to spark visual interests (Inspiration, 2017). Other presentation tools such Pechakua or Prezi may be utilised instead of PowerPoint to project interesting visuals. To engage students visually ensures productivity amongst the classroom. I feel as though it is our profession as educators to impact our students in terms of introducing them to new skills and assisting them in developing to the best of their abilities. This exposure to technological establishments enforces students to creative with their approaches in educational studies. I believe that technology has evolved and as we're living in the 21st century, we should manipulate these creations to the best our advantages (Pro Oncall Technologies, 2017). These tools were established to enhance the endless possibilities for creativity. Educating myself on recent technology developments not only allows my knowledge and skills to expand but also produces a sense of confidence. Reference:
